Scope

Cross-platform authentication across 9 platforms

The Challenge

Too many ways to sign in.

Over the last 15 years, AT&T has acquired many companies ranging from telecom to media. With those purchases, they continued to let the acquisitions keep their unique authentication experiences.

Since the purchase of Time Warner, AT&T realized a tremendous burden of too many different authentication experiences, conflicting user ID and password rules, and the general burden of maintaining a sprawl of backend systems.

Design Technology was tapped to help solution, and our team got right to work.

The Solution

One cohesive, streamlined system.

Our team worked across the entirety of AT&T products and services to bring a cohesive and streamlined authentication system.

We designed the experience to work on 9 different platforms including desktop, mobile, iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV and more.

As of May 2020, 100% of web traffic goes through the new authentication experience, with other platforms to follow.

Before

A fragmented starting point.

Each acquired brand carried its own sign-in patterns, visual language, and password rules which left customers to navigate a patchwork of disconnected experiences.
